Tina Rupprecht faces historic fight

From the classroom to the boxing Olympics: Tina Rupprecht wants to be the first German to win all four major world titles!

She teaches sport part-time at a Bavarian secondary school, goes by the name Fritschi in her private life – and is facing the biggest moment of her sporting career on Saturday. Tina Rupprecht will be fighting for the undisputed world championship in the atomweight division in Potsdam. The 32-year-old, who already holds three world titles from the major federations (WBC, WBA, WBO), wants to secure her fourth belt (IBF) against Japan’s Sumire Yamanaka – and make boxing history in the process.

If he succeeds, Rupprecht would be the first German ever to be able to call herself “Undisputed Champion”. An accolade in professional boxing that only a few stars worldwide have ever achieved. The Americans call it the “crowning achievement” of a boxing career.

One of the best P4P boxers!

Despite her world-class level, Rupprecht leads a life away from the glamor. The 1.53 meter tall Augsburg native works as a part-time teacher and is simply “Mrs. Fritschi” in everyday school life. But in the ring she is known as “Tiny Tina” and is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world across all weight classes. Coach Alexander Haan, who has coached her since she was a teenager, is proud of his disciplined pupil: “Tina is a role model and shows that you can achieve anything with hard work and perseverance.”

The historic unification fight Rupprecht vs. Yamanaka will be shown live on MDR on Saturday at 10:30 pm!
