In the year of SES Boxing’s 25th anniversary, the first SES Boxing Gala will take place on Saturday, April 5, at the MBS Arena in Potsdam. After a good ten years, the Magdeburg-based stable is returning to the state capital of Brandenburg with its SES Boxing Gala event series.

First title defense for local hero

With SES light heavyweight Nick Hannig (14-1-1, 7 knockouts), a real local hero will also be making his first title defense this evening. Hannig captured the vacant WBO Europe title on November 2, 2024 with a T.K.O. victory (8th round) against Tom Dzemski in Chemnitz.

“I knew I could do it,” said an overjoyed Hannig in an interview after the thrilling duel. “The hard body shots did their job. And when I got the chance, I followed up.” It was a great moment for the new WBO European champion. The joy in his words were a testament to the effort he had put in for this triumph. “This is not just a victory for me, but for everyone who has supported me.”

SES will announce further information on the 38-year-old Berlin native’s title defense on April 5, other top-class title fights and the complete boxing program in the coming weeks.

MDR will broadcast the SES Boxing Gala on April 5 in the program “SPORT im Osten – Boxen live” from Potsdam at 10:35 pm.
