Neu-Ulm, Bavaria – Boxing legend Felix Sturm has once again proven that he is far from being an old man at the age of 46. In the Ratiopharm Arena, the former multiple world champion secured a dominant knockout victory in the third round against Benjamin Blindert.

Sturm dominates Blindert and ends the fight early

Sturm (45-6-3, 20 knockouts) left no doubt about his class and superiority. He gave the 38-year-old Blindert (14-2-2, 10 knockouts) a hard time in the third round and inflicted his second consecutive defeat. Blindert had already suffered a ninth-round stoppage defeat against Alexander Rigas in Weilheim last June.

And Blindert was also unable to find any means against Sturm. The veteran showed all his experience and punching power when he sent Blindert to the floor twice. With two consecutive uppercuts, Sturm ensured that his opponent had to be counted out. As soon as Blindert was back on his feet, he followed up with a hard right head kick that brought him to his knees again. The decision was made a few seconds later: Sturm struck again with a right straight, causing Blindert to collapse once more. Referee Oliver Brien recognized the hopelessness of the situation and stopped the duel without counting Blindert out.

Hungry for success

It was Felix Sturm’s first fight in over a year. He last triumphed on December 2, 2023 against Turku Altay by knockout in the ninth round in Ludwigsburg. But despite his long career and his age, he is not thinking of retiring. With this impressive victory, he secured the WBA light heavyweight gold title and underlined his ambition to remain at the top of the world rankings.

The event was a co-promotion between Sturm Boxing and AGON Sports, which shows that the ex-champion also pulls strings outside the ring. Whether and when a next fight will follow remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: Felix Sturm still has a lot left in the tank!
