Nikita Putilov showed his super heavyweight title ambitions in the last 16 of the German Championships – and beat Merveille Binda 4:1.

Nikita Putilov (BB) underlined his ambitions in the super heavyweight division with a clear 4:1 victory over Merveille Binda (NRW). The favorite for the DM title thus advanced to the quarter-finals, where he will fight Delil Yazgan (NE) for a place in the semi-finals. Berlin super heavyweight Elyes Layouni caused a big surprise with his dominant performance against defending champion Granit Sope (BW). With a strong performance in the first two rounds and clever defense in the third round, Layouni secured a unanimous points victory. In the quarter-finals he will face the experienced Jerry Alabi from Hamburg.
There were also unexpected results in the heavyweight division. Omar Sloian (NRW) narrowly won 3:2 against the favored Simon Rieth (MV). In the 63 kg class, Assan Hansen (HE) showed why he is the favorite for the title. With a commanding victory over Andrej Holliartoc (BW), he advanced to the quarterfinals, where he will face former youth champion Glib Ponomarenko (BE). In the women’s category up to 66 kilograms (Welter), Charlotta Schünemann (NRW) made a statement with a clear 5:0 points victory over Michelle Auth (HE). She remains one of the big contenders for the DM title in her limit.
