On February 15, 2025, the boxing highlight “Ein Sturm zieht auf” will take place in Neu-Ulm. Felix Sturm returns to the ring. As has now been announced, Vincenzo Gualtieri has also been added to the fight card of the event organized by Sturm Boxing and AGON Sports. The former IBF middleweight world champion will provide additional star power in the ratiopharm Arena.

Vincenzo Gualtieri: A name with charisma

Vincenzo Gualtieri won the IBF middleweight title against Brazilian Esquiva Falcao in his hometown of Wuppertal on July 1, 2023. However, he lost it again three months later in a unification fight against WBO champion Janibek Alimkhanuly. Incidentally, Felix Sturm once held both the IBF title and the WBO belt.

Gualtieri has had two fights since his defeat to Janibek, both of which he won. In his first appearance since losing the belt, he faced Joshua Nmomah at the AGON Sportpark Charlottenburg in April. “Il Cape” won the eight-rounder against the Nigerian unanimously on points. Also scheduled for two rounds: the fight against the Argentinian Job Ezequiel Herrera on October 19. Gualtieri won by knockout in round 1.

A comeback and a goal

The German-Italian Vincenzo Gualtieri was under the influence of Graciano Rocchigiani for a long time. The late boxing star shaped him both as a sportsman and as a person. Today, Gualtieri trains at AGON Sports under Franquis Aldama. He led him to the world title in 2022. Now Gualtieri wants to return to the big stage.

“It’s a great honor to box on February 15,” says Gualtieri. “The fans can look forward to an unforgettable atmosphere.” Gualtieri’s goal: an eliminator fight in 2025, perhaps even a new world title. He promises to give his all for the mega event. “I want to show why I was world champion and why I can be again.”

Boxing fans can save 20 percent on ticket purchases until December 23. The early bird promotion applies to almost all categories. Tickets are available via the Ticketmaster.de platform. If you want to be there, you should hurry. The event is a must for boxing fans.
