The sparring phase is over! Granit Shala feels ready for the big heavyweight test against Petar Milas.

The preparation is complete, the direction is right: Granit Shala has successfully completed his intensive sparring phase. In the remaining days until the fight against Petar Milas on Saturday, only relaxed sessions, regeneration and the final fine-tuning are on the training schedule. The focus is now clearly on mental freshness and precision.
Coach Agron Kurtisi draws a consistently positive conclusion from the past few weeks: “The sparring phase went very well. We were lucky to have absolute top sparring partners in the gym. Granit did very hard rounds, remained injury-free, highly motivated and hungry. He can hardly wait to finally get into the ring on Saturday. A bit of excitement is always part of it, but I’m convinced that we will master the fight.”
Shala himself is also more confident and focused than ever before: “We’ve done an extremely large number of sparring sessions over the last three weeks. For me, this has been the best sparring phase of my career so far. I’ve never been as physically fit as I am now. There are no excuses for Saturday – I’m ready.”
Promoter Ingo Volckmann emphasizes the importance of the duel, both in sporting and emotional terms: “Granit has continuously improved since his defeat at the European Championships and has come back strongly. He has been training even harder since then and is currently in the best shape of his career. This fight is extremely important for him and for AGON. The bar is naturally set high in front of an audience like this. What’s crucial now is that he remains mentally stable – physically he’s in great shape. Granit is ready to show that he belongs among the greats on Saturday.”
From Wednesday, Shala will set up his quarters in Oberhausen and start the official Fight Week. The following dates await the big event in the Rudolf Weber Arena, where Agit Kabayel will be the focus of the main fight:
- Wednesday, January 7: Open Workout – starts at 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday, January 8: Press conference – starts at 2:00 p.m.
- Friday, January 9: Ceremonial Weigh-In – starts at 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday, January 10: Fight against Petar Milas (co-main event)
The preparation is complete, the tension is rising. Now all that counts is the moment when the bell sounds and Granit Shala wants to confirm his hard work in the ring.
