Filip Hrgovic dominated David Allen in Doncaster from the start and won a one-sided heavyweight duel by T.K.O. in the third round after Allen’s corner threw in the towel.

Croatian heavyweight contender Filip Hrgovic made short work of David Allen at Doncaster Rovers Football Club’s stadium in England on Saturday night. Hrgovic (20-1, 15 knockouts) secured the win in the third round after Allen’s corner threw in the towel at 2:37 minutes of the third.
The difference in class between the two heavyweights was already clear to see in the first few seconds of the fight. Hrgovic landed accurate shots to the head and body and controlled the action with his jab and hard combinations. Allen (25-9-2, 20 knockouts) went down in the third round before trainer Jaime Moore stopped the fight. However, referee Steve Gray surprisingly judged the scene as a slip, even though the Englishman was clearly slumped over. Allen was back on his feet when the fight was stopped, but Hrgovic had previously landed several precise hands to the Brit’s head. With his success in South Yorkshire, the Croatian secured the IBF Intercontinental heavyweight title.
It now seems likely that the Olympic bronze medalist will meet heavyweight talent Moses Itauma later this year. Hrgovic said after the fight on DAZN: “Moses Itauma, anyone else – I’ll talk to my team. I don’t think I have any cuts. I’ll sign the contract right away. I’ll talk to my team first. I’ll fight anybody.”
