Jaron Ennis secures the WBA and WBO super welterweight world titles with a TKO victory over Xander Zayas, solidifying his place in the pound-for-pound rankings

Jaron Ennis is now a world champion in two weight classes. The American stopped Xander Zayas in the seventh round, securing the WBA and WBO super welterweight world titles.
Ennis (36-0, 32 KOs) started throwing punches right from the first round and sent Zayas (23-1, 13 KOs) to the canvas early on with a precise combination to the head.
In the second round, Ennis continued to put intense pressure on the Puerto Rican, but Zayas managed to avoid serious damage. In the third round, Zayas fought back and landed a hard right that briefly forced Ennis to retreat.
But in the fifth round, Zayas went down again. Ennis landed a lightning-fast right uppercut and sent his opponent back to the mat. Although Zayas got back to his feet, he looked clearly shaken.
The fight was finally decided in the seventh round. Ennis bombarded Zayas with a flurry of lefts and rights, forcing him to his knees once again. As Zayas sat on the canvas for the fourth time in the fight and looked anxiously toward his corner, referee Harvey Dock stopped the world title bout via technical knockout 1 minute and 49 seconds into the seventh round.
With this dominant victory, Ennis—promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom—also solidifies his place in the pound-for-pound rankings.
