On October 3, promoter Thomas Nissen will be back at “Große Freiheit 36” with his boxers. The fight card features plenty of title bouts, local heroes, and a boxing legend from Sweden.
Traditionally, fists fly at “Große Freiheit 36” on German Unity Day. October 3, 2026, will be no exception. Promoter Thomas Nissen is once again organizing an exciting boxing event at the legendary Hamburg nightclub. The fight card for “Boxen im Norden” features a total of ten bouts.
The card features four World Boxing Federation (WBF) title fights. Headlining the event on October 3, Dennis Krieger (18-13-2, 11 KOs) will step into the ring. The seasoned veteran, coming off four straight wins, will face Dorde Krsmanovic (9-2-1, 4 KOs) for the WBF light middleweight world title. Krsmanovic is getting another shot at the world title following his unfortunate loss in May of this year to Alexander Pavlov, during which he dislocated his shoulder.
Kerkmann & Co. Battle for the WBF Belt
In the light heavyweight division, David Kerkmann (33-5, 29 KOs) will fight a 12-round bout for the WBF world title against France’s Taylor Friedrich (9-0, 6 KOs). Briton Steve Robinson (8-3, 5 KOs) will box in a ten-round bout for the WBF bridgerweight title. “Drago” Robinson’s opponent will be the hard-hitting Francisco Cordero (48-26, 37 KOs) from Colombia.
Multiple champion Mikaela Lauren (33-9-1, 14 KOs) also hopes to claim another title under the disco ball at the Große Freiheit. The now 50-year-old Swede is stepping into the ring against the WBF’s No. 8-ranked fighter, Karla Ramos Zamora (12-11-2, 4 KOs) from Mexico. “We’re in for a hard-hitting, chaotic brawl,” exclaims promoter Nissen.
Heavyweight Neil Wilson, who is traveling with his fan base from Newcastle, Kazakhstani Viktor Temirov (middleweight), and local heroes Kevin Boakye Schumann (light heavyweight), Helmut Ofori (super middleweight), and Ammar Abduljabbar (cruiserweight) will also help set the mood.
No opponent for Phannarai
The only downside: Two-time world champion Fai Phannarai ( bantamweight and super bantamweight) will not be stepping into the ring on October 3. “None of the world’s top 10 professionals are willing to face Fai in Hamburg,” explains Nissen. “Because of her flawless career so far, the WBF is therefore officially extending the defense period for both world championship belts.”
The official weigh-in will take place on Friday (October 2) starting at 10:15 a.m. in the boxing cellar of the iconic bar “Zur Ritze” (Reeperbahn 140). The following day, the doors at Große Freiheit 36 will open around 3:00 p.m.
