32 boxers qualify for the third round of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix in Riyadh

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The second round of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix is over. Over two days, top talents from all over the world gathered in the Saudi capital Riyadh to qualify for the quarter-finals in a knockout format.
After the first round in April – with 128 fighters in four weight classes (featherweight, super lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight) – 64 boxers remained in the tournament. Eight fighters per division have now secured their ticket for the next round, which will be held in the summer.
Highlights of round 2:
Middleweight:
Frenchman Lancelot de la Chapelle and Canada’s right-handed Derek Pomerleau ensured clear conditions with knockout victories.
Super lightweight:
Ukraine’s Danylo Lozan impressed with a dominant TKO in round three against the previously unbeaten Canadian Eric Basran.
Heavyweight:
South African Keaton Gomes celebrated his second knockout victory in a row, stopping Alija Mesic in round five. Ahmed Krnjic from Bosnia-Herzegovina also stayed on the winning track with a TKO in round five against Davide Brito.
Olympic champion Lazibek Mullojonov (Uzbekistan) and the unbeaten Ukrainian Tsotne Rogava both secured clear points victories over six rounds.
