US boxer Jermall Charlo celebrates a resounding return with a technical knockout against Thomas LaManna in Las Vegas.

Former world champion in two weight classes, Jermall Charlo, made a strong statement last night at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. After a 16-month break from the ring, the undefeated American (now 34-0, 23 knockouts) made an impressive return, dismantling Thomas LaManna (39-6-1, 18 knockouts) by T.K.O. in the sixth round.
LaManna came to Nevada on a nine-fight winning streak that stretched back to 2021 – his last defeat was a first-round knockout against Erislandy Lara. However, “Cornflake” had a tough time against the explosive Charlo in the “City of Sin” right from the start.
LaManna was knocked down for the first time in the third round after Charlo increased the pressure massively with precise punches. Another knockdown followed in round five – again it was an explosive combination of right straights and left hooks that left LaManna on wobbly legs. Despite his bravery and attempt to save himself over the rounds, the fight was one-sided.
Shortly after the end of the fifth round, referee Mark Nelson intervened after the ringside doctor could no longer justify continuing the fight due to the increasing impact of the punches and LaManna’s physical condition. This made the technical knockout (T.K.O.) in round six official.
It was Charlo’s first appearance since his points win over Jose Benavidez Jr at the same venue – and at the same time a clear signal to his super-middleweight rivals that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
