In a thrilling British heavyweight rematch last night at the Copperbox Arena in London, presented by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom, Dave Allen (24-7-2, 19 knockouts) impressively outpointed the highly touted Johnny Fisher (13-1, 11 knockouts).

Allen dominated the duel and sent Fisher to the floor twice in the fifth round. After the second knockdown, it was clear to Fisher’s corner that the towel had to be thrown in. The judges stopped the fight at exactly 3:00 minutes in round five. The first clash between the English heavyweights took place last December on the undercard of the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury II fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Back then the result was close, with Allen’s brutal left hook putting Fisher down, but he narrowly avoided the knockout.

This time Allen left no doubt about his superiority. In the final minute of the fifth round, he hit Fisher with a towering overhand right to the chin that forced Fisher to retreat. Allen took his chance, following up with a left hook to the body and a quick combination of right uppercuts and left hooks. Fisher came under increasing pressure, taking a series of left and right hooks to the head and was forced to the floor.

Although Fisher struggled to his feet, Allen came forward with determination and scored again with a left hook to the body as well as a decisive left hook to the chin. Fisher’s corner was forced to throw in the towel as the challenger went face first to the mat.

This knockout victory for Dave Allen marks a clear statement in the British heavyweight division and puts him back in the spotlight. Fans and experts are eagerly waiting to see what happens next for both boxers.
