Austin “Ammo” Williams wins unanimously against Patrice Volny, Berlanga convinces with first round knockout.

American middleweight Austin “Ammo” Williams celebrated a unanimous points victory over Patrice Volny in the main event of the evening at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. In addition, super middleweight Edgar Berlanga knocked out Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in quick fashion in the co-main event.
Williams (18-1, 12 knockouts) had to fight hard for the full 12 rounds as Volny (19-2, 13 knockouts) gave him a fierce fight. While the DAZN commentators unofficially scored the fight 114-114, the judges saw the fight clearly in Williams’ favor with scores of 116-112, 115-113 and a controversial 118-110 decision. Williams thus secured the “WBA Continental Americas” title.

This was the second win in a row for Williams after his defeat to Hamzah Sheeraz in June last year. “I wanted to beat him strategically,” said Williams after the fight. “He was very clever. I had to rely on my experience. Kevin Cunningham told me to keep pushing him back. If he hadn’t told me that, I would have lost this fight.”
Edgar Berlanga dominates with first round knockout.
Super middleweight Edgar Berlanga delivered a brutal performance to secure a first-round knockout win over fellow Puerto Rican Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in the co-main event.
Berlanga (23-1, 18 knockouts) returned to the ring following his defeat to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last September. Despite an unblemished record, Gonzalez-Ortiz (20-1-1, 16 knockouts) could offer little resistance. Berlanga repeatedly landed right hooks before sending Gonzalez-Ortiz to the floor with a cracking left hand. Another knockdown followed shortly after with a hard right hand, but Gonzalez-Ortiz managed to get to his feet once more. A straight left from Berlanga forced referee Chris to stop the fight with 29 seconds left on the clock in the first round.
