“Making a difference in Africa has always been my dream. I’m really looking forward to traveling to Kigali with my team and being part of this event,” explains Mouafo (10-1, 6 knockouts). Despite the current political tensions in the country, the boxer is confident and highly motivated. Mouafo’s opponent is 26-year-old Wazir Magombana (11-2, 8 knockouts) from Tanzania. The eight-round bout not only serves as a possible qualifier for an African title fight, but is also intended to kick off a series of events on the continent.

The event is backed by former heavyweight boxer Carlos Takam, a formative figure in African boxing. After his active career, Takam is increasingly involved in sport and social projects. “The collaboration with Carlos and the opportunity for our boxers to compete abroad are the results of our successful work in recent years,” says Mouafo’s manager Leander Strupler.

The event will take place at the Universe City Center in Kigali. In addition to Mouafo’s duel, three other professional fights and three amateur encounters are on the program. Numerous local personalities from the worlds of sport, business and politics are expected to attend. With this event, Takam wants to strengthen boxing in Africa and offer young talents a platform.
