Despite Wladimir Klitschko’s denial, comeback rumors remain alive. The former world champion is keeping fit and would be ready if it came to that.

Former boxing world champion Wladimir Klitschko (48) remains a hot topic in the boxing world. Although he ended his career in 2017, there are always rumors about a possible comeback. But the 48-year-old is currently denying such reports. “At the moment, I’m not concerned with my return to boxing, but with the return of the Russians to their homeland outside Ukraine,” Klitschko said on his social media account on the X platform.
Klitschko remains fit and ready
Despite his reticence, Klitschko emphasizes that he has never stopped training. “So if it came to a fight, I would be ready on the spot,” says the Ukrainian. His statement further fuels the rumor mill. According to various media reports, a fight against Tyson Fury could be possible next year. Klitschko lost his world titles to the Brit in 2015.
There are a lot of rumors these days about a possible comeback. At the moment, I’m not concerned with my return to boxing, but with the return of Russians to their country, outside Ukraine.

Wladimir Klitschko: Focus on Fury vs. Usyk II
This weekend, Klitschko wants to watch the world championship rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh. Observers speculate that a possible victory for Fury could strengthen the rumors of Klitschko’s return. Promoter Frank Warren has already commented: “I’m not a big fan of old men returning to the sport. But we’ll see what happens.”
Saudi Arabia as a stage for a comeback?
Saudi Arabian investor Turki al-Sheikh, who organizes numerous high-profile fights, also recently encouraged Klitschko to return to the ring at an event in Hamburg. Klitschko remained reticent, however, but allowed himself to be photographed. This fuels speculation about negotiations behind the scenes.
Rumors about Klitschko’s plans do not stop
The Munich newspaper “Abendzeitung ” reported that Klitschko was ready for the next challenge. The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” also reported that Klitschko had signaled a comeback. His fans continue to hope for a return of the boxing idol. However, Klitschko officially stands by his statement: “I’m ready, but at the moment I’m busy with other things”.
