At the SES Boxing Gala on November 2 in Chemnitz, Tom Dzemski will fight Berlin’s Nick Hannig for the WBO European light heavyweight title.

On November 2, 2024, the “Kraftverkehr Chemnitz” will be the venue for an exciting evening of boxing. In the main fight of the SES Boxing Gala, Tom Dzemski from Görzig will face Nick Hannig from Berlin. Both are fighting for the WBO European light heavyweight championship. Dzemski, former junior world champion and German champion, has clear goals. “I only have good memories of my last fight here. The crowd cheered me on incredibly and I’m looking forward to boxing in Chemnitz again,” said the 27-year-old at the press conference.
Tom Dzemski and Nick Hannig: dream opponents in the ring
The fight against Hannig promises to be an exciting affair. Both boxers have described each other as their preferred opponent. Hannig himself even sees Dzemski as the ideal challenge: “Tom is my opponent of choice. I know his strengths and weaknesses and want to win the WBO belt”. For Dzemski, it is the next step after his strong comeback in April. His record of 21 wins, 11 of them by knockout, speaks for his experience in the ring. Hannig, on the other hand, has only lost one controversial fight and has a strong record of 13-1-1.
Particularly interesting: both boxers will be accompanied by their fathers as trainers. Dirk Dzemski, Tom’s father, emphasizes the long boxing tradition in Chemnitz and sees the fight as a 50:50 duel. Andreas Hannig, Nick’s father and coach, knows his opponent’s skills, but believes in his son’s strength. “We know how to take Tom, but we can also surprise him,” says Hannig Senior.
Ulf Steinforth on the significance of tonight’s event
SES promoter Ulf Steinforth emphasizes the special significance of the evening: “After last year’s great success, it was our wish to hold the event in Chemnitz again. The atmosphere and the enthusiastic boxing audience here are unique. The fact that two Germans are fighting for the WBO European title is something very special. For me, it’s a fight with an open outcome, where the Chemnitz boxing fans will get their money’s worth.” Steinforth is also optimistic about advance ticket sales: “Demand is already very high, we are expecting a sold-out hall.”
More fights: Roman Fress and more
In addition to the highlight between Tom Dzemski and Nick Hannig, there are other high-caliber fights. SES cruiserweight Roman Fress will defend his WBC International title. Fress has celebrated impressive victories this year and is highly motivated to continue boxing his way to the top of the world rankings. “I’m looking forward to Chemnitz. There was a great atmosphere here last year and I want to successfully defend my title,” says Fress.
Fighters such as Richard Meinecke, Max Suske and Armend Xhoxaj will also be in the ring and enrich the program of the SES Boxing Gala. Fans can look forward to a high-class boxing evening, which will be broadcast live by MDR in the “Sport im Osten” format.
