BOXSPORT’s women’s P4P list: 4th-6th place

Women’s boxing has developed enormously in recent years, with the ladies now filling famous arenas and battling it out in high-paying main events. So it’s time for BOXSPORT to dedicate a P4P ranking to the best female fighters. Today: sixth to fourth place!

P4P #4: Chantelle Cameron (19-1-0, 8 knockouts)

The Englishwoman calls herself “Il Capo” and is indeed usually the clear boss in the ring. Two years ago, Chantelle Cameron ascended to the throne in the light welterweight division with a points victory over the experienced Jessica McCaskill, capturing all the recognized world titles. Her career highlight came in May 2023: she crashed superstar Katie Taylor’s party in Dublin, defeating the local heroine on points in her long-awaited home debut. Cameron lost the rematch six months later by a narrow margin and not without controversy on the scorecards. Among other things, observers criticized the fact that a ground visit by Taylor after a hard left from Cameron was not counted as a knockdown. A trilogy with the “Irish Queen” would actually be logical and would shake up the P4P ranking once again.

P4P #5: Amanda Serrano (47-2-1, 31 knockouts)

The 35-year-old from Puerto Rico is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in women’s boxing. Promoted to great effect by Jake Paul, Amanda Serrano is one of the sport’s top earners – and rightly so. She has been world featherweight champion for five years, and in 2022 Serrano crowned herself the undisputed featherweight queen with a clear points victory over Sarah Mahfoud. “The Real Deal” suffered her only defeat in the mega-fight in New York 2022 against Katie Taylor – an extremely close 2:1 on the scorecards. Serrano can throw like few prizefighters, winning almost two thirds of her fights early. However, Serrano’s reputation was recently tarnished when she canceled her duel with Nina Meinke at the very last second in March – allegedly due to an eye injury.

P4P #6: Alycia Baumgardner (15-1-0, 7th knockout)

A doping shadow hung over Alycia Baumgardner in 2023 following the discovery of a banned substance. However, the WBC cleared her after an investigation and the Association of Boxing Commissions lifted her ban in March of this year. The US-American is one of the show-conscious world champions – she usually makes a lot of verbal noise. “The Bomb” snatched two super featherweight world championship belts in 2021, and a year later Baumgardner fought a high-class duel with rival champion Mikaela Mayer in England, which she narrowly won on points. The reward: the IBF and WBO titles. She defended her four belts twice before the doping findings.
