Late luck – quick end. For Magomed Shakhidov, who jumped on the Olympic bandwagon at the last minute, the Olympic boxing tournament is over after just one performance. In the North Paris Arena, the German from TSV 1860 Munich lost 1:4 on points to Tiago Muxanga from Mozambique (27:30, 28:29, 27:30, 28:29, 29:28).

In a relatively clear-cut wrestling match, the Mozambican landed the clearer strikes in all rounds, sometimes hitting combinations worth seeing. Shakhidov made a good impression in the first round, acting mainly from the center of the ring, but failed to land any decisive strikes. Instead, his opponent Muxanga repeatedly managed to land dangerous uppercuts in the infight.

Shakhidov committed – Muxanga with the clearer goals

A circumstance that continued throughout the entire fight. Shakhidov acted with more commitment at the start of the second round, choosing to go forward and repeatedly trying to break through Muxanga’s defense. However, his attacks were often uncontrolled, allowing the Mozambican to repeatedly counterattack. Muxanga hit the body and the head. The uppercut in particular landed on target far too often.

In the third and final round, both boxers threw technical and tactical considerations overboard. At times, the fight was reminiscent of a fierce brawl, but there were few clear hits – and when there were, it was mostly Muxanga who left the ring as the deserved winner.
