On September 27, 2025, the ordinary congress of the German Boxing Association (DBV) took place in Pleinfeld, Bavaria. The most important item on the agenda was the election of a new association board. The delegates of the 17 regional associations elected Prof. Dr. Farid Vatanparast as the new President of the DBV by an overwhelming majority. Vatanparast had initially been appointed to head the association on an interim basis following the resignation of Prof. Dr. Jens Hadler at the end of May. He has now won the election with 841 votes to 100 against Raiko Morales from Hamburg.

Result as a clear mandate

“With around 90 percent of the votes, the delegates gave me an overwhelming vote of confidence,” commented Vatanparast on his election. He does not see this result as an accolade, but as a clear mandate. The new association president emphasized that the aim was to lead German boxing into the future with determination together with the Executive Board team: “Together with the regional associations, the athletes and the voluntary and full-time staff, we will tackle the next steps. Our goal remains to make boxing in Germany strong, visible and successful.”

The following further election decisions were made at the DBV Congress:

* Vice President Finance: Gerd Oimann (confirmed in office)
* Vice President Legal: Ronny Abraham (confirmed in office)
* Vice President Education and Training: Lothar Heine (confirmed in office)
* Vice President Cooperation Associations, Future Issues, Special Projects: Karl Heinrich Pauckner (newly elected to office)
* Sports Director: Detlef Jentsch (confirmed in office)
* Referee Chairman: Erich Dreke (confirmed in office)
* Chairwoman of Popular Sports: Susanne Busse (newly elected to office)
* Chairman of Youth Competitive Sports: Andrew Colbourne (confirmed in office)
* Association Medical Officer: Dr. Angelika Fischer (confirmed in office)
* Assessors: Olaf Leib (confirmed in office), Waldemar Franke (confirmed in office)

The office of Vice President of Competitive Sports could not be elected in Pleinfeld. Both candidates for this office are employed full-time by the DBV. However, the election of a person employed full-time by the DBV to this office will only be possible once the new statutes have come into force and will be held in the near future.

Further congress topics

Following the reports on the past term of office, the congress approved the actions of the association’s Executive Board. Other topics discussed at the congress included the status of digitalization and the progress made in centralizing squad training. The topics also included the organization of the U17 European Championships by the DBV next December.

BOXSPORT wishes Farid Vatanparast every success for his new term of office. The DBV President explained his priorities and the tasks he intends to tackle in the near future in an exclusive interview he gave BOXSPORT in the run-up to the election.
