Whittaker signs with Matchroom Boxing

Big stage for Ben Whittaker: The British light heavyweight is now boxing under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner – with a clear world championship mission.

Big coup for Eddie Hearn: British Olympic silver medalist Ben Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 knockouts) has signed a long-term contract with Matchroom Boxing. The 28-year-old light heavyweight will box exclusively on DAZN in the future. Whittaker, who is trained by former world champion Andy Lee, is one of Britain’s most exciting talents and is already well-placed in the IBF and WBC rankings.

“I’m ready for the big fights now. This feels like a new start,” said the Briton. The official presentation will take place on October 17 at a press conference in London. Eddie Hearn described Whittaker as “one of the most spectacular signings ever” and promised: “We’re going to make him a world star.” Matchroom CEO Frank Smith is also convinced: “Ben Whittaker will be a world champion – and more.” By switching to Matchroom, “The Surgeon” not only wants to win titles, but also further expand his status as a crowd favorite.
