Showtime for two legends: Tyson and Mayweather agree on an exhibition fight in Africa. Tyson announces a historic mega-event.

The showdown between two living boxing legends is taking shape: Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have agreed on the date and venue for their long-announced exhibition fight. As Tyson revealed on An Experience With, the spectacle is to take place in Africa in March – a location that inevitably brings back memories of the “Rumble in the Jungle” in boxing history. “It’s going to be incredible. We will break all records,” announced the 58-year-old full of anticipation. “One of the biggest events in the history of this sport.”
It is clear that the fight will be more of a show than a sporting comparison – after all, Tyson and Mayweather were separated by several weight classes in their careers. Details of the weight limit have yet to be announced. But the interest in this clash of icons is likely to be huge: despite his age, Tyson remains one of the biggest names in the boxing world, while Mayweather has become an exhibition machine since his retirement in 2017.
The undefeated former champion Mayweather (50-0) recently completed show fights against Logan Paul, John Gotti III and Tenshin Nasukawa – and even flirted with a real rematch against Manny Pacquiao, according to reports. Tyson, on the other hand, returned from almost two decades of retirement in November 2024 and clearly lost to Jake Paul. Nevertheless, “Iron Mike” seems eager for the next stage: “I can hardly wait to get my hands on Floyd.” One thing is certain: Africa will be the setting for one of the most bizarre, but probably also biggest boxing events of the year in 2026.
