Yasar sets an exclamation mark with a brutal TKO – Vykhryst and Chupil impress with early victories on the Kiwitt undercard.
On the Freddy Kiwitt vs. Suleiman Jafaru undercard in the GP Joule Arena Flensburg there were some fights worth seeing – but Darian Yasar stole the show. The 35-year-old welterweight caused a big surprise with a stoppage win in round six against the previously undefeated Menal Topcu.
Yasar (15-1-1, 5 knockouts) sent his Hamburg opponent Topcu (8-1, 3 knockouts) to the floor three times on his way to victory. In the co-main event, Yasar put all his eggs in one basket in the final round: With just over a minute left on the clock, he covered Topcu with hard body shots and scored the next knockdown. Topcu fought his way back to his feet, but just seconds later Yasar ended the duel with a right hook to the head, followed by a right to the body. Topcu slumped down, the towel flew – it was over with 46 seconds to go.
Faust sweeps Cvetkov out of the heavyweight ring in a flash
The rest of the undercard also delivered. Ukrainian heavyweight Victor Faust celebrated a lightning-fast TKO victory in round one against Todorche Cvetkov of North Macedonia. Faust (17-1, 11 knockouts) needed just seconds to send the visibly out of shape Cvetkov (14-4, 11 knockouts) to the floor with a right hand through the guard and a body shot. The challenger still got up, but the referee rightly stopped the fight.
Elsewhere on the undercard, Alexander Chupil (16-0, 11 knockouts) of Hamburg scored a second-round technical knockout victory over Ahem Amani Jr. (22-8-2, 19 knockouts) of Tanzania. The 32-year-old super middleweight now has seven knockouts in his last eight fights. Chupil ended the fight in the second round with a body shot after knocking his opponent down in the first round.
Flensburg thus experienced an undercard with clear statements – above all from Darian Yasar, who impressively boxed his way into the limelight with his sensational victory.
