Things are getting serious for Kevin Walsh. The unbeaten American will face Michael Conlan tomorrow, Friday, in Belfast – and thus the strongest opponent of his career to date. The Irishman, two-time world championship challenger and highly decorated amateur, brings experience, technique and home advantage with him. Walsh is aware of the challenge, but is confident. The 33-year-old believes he is in top physical and mental shape and is looking forward to the chance to prove himself at the top level. A victory could finally open the way for him to the top of the world rankings.

Yet Walsh’s path is anything but ordinary. He only found boxing late in life – and after a difficult phase in his life. After personal setbacks and several conflicts with the law, he was looking for a way out. The decision to dedicate himself to the sport became a turning point. Since his professional debut, Walsh has worked his way up step by step and has so far remained unbeaten. Today, he sees his experiences away from the ring as part of his strength: setbacks, discipline and perseverance characterize his style.

Now he faces the biggest test of his career. Not only a strong opponent awaits in Conlan’s home country, but also an emotionally charged environment. For Walsh, it’s more than just a fight – it’s a chance to take his story to the next level.
