Wladimir Klitschko: More than just a champion

Wladimir Klitschko will be fifty years old on March 25, 2026 – and he is still a tireless fighter. No longer in the ring as he was during his boxing career, which includes an Olympic victory, 69 professional fights and the second-longest reign as world heavyweight champion. But as a fighter for the freedom of his homeland, Ukraine.

From Frank Schwantes

It was in May 2004 when I met him for the first time, at a sponsor’s talk round (topic: “Strength”). In the subsequent interview, Wladimir was friendly, witty and determined. Since then, we have met many times – at his fights, at training camps, in interviews. His openness, curiosity and determination have always remained the same. And it became clear to me: Wladimir Klitschko is more than just a champion in the ring.

A boxer who shaped his sporting home of Germany in the 2000s and 2010s like no other and created a legacy can be duly celebrated on his “50th”. BOXSPORT does just that with this special. All the best, champ!
