Alycia Baumgardner put in a dominant performance to claim a clear win over Bo Mi Re Shin, securing a unanimous points victory last night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Baumgardner (18-1, 7 knockouts) successfully defended her IBF, WBA and WBO super featherweight titles and also contested her second fight in the three-minute round format. It was a one-sided affair for long stretches, with Baumgardner taking control in the ring and scoring a clear victory on points with scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 98-92.
Shin (19-4-3, 10 knockouts) showed fighting spirit, but had big problems when it came to exchanging blows. The American’s superior hand speed and precise punch selection ensured that the South Korean was hardly able to develop.
Lani Daniels pulled off a surprise in the preliminary program when she stopped Shadasia Green early to secure the IBF and WBO super middleweight titles.
Daniels (12-4-2) scored the first early win of her career, celebrated her first success outside her native New Zealand and was also crowned world champion in three weight classes. Green (16-2, 11 knockouts) was badly knocked out in the ninth round and had to be stretchered out of the ring. However, she reportedly recovered well and required no further medical attention.
The event was promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and was also the first US show to air on ESPN.
