After the loss to Pawel August, Simon Zachenhuber wants to make a statement. Armin Ajrulai awaits him in Cologne.

The German Boxing Series invites fans to the second edition of the GBS FightClub this Saturday at the STRASSENKICKER BASE in Cologne. Following the successful premiere in March, fans can once again look forward to a jam-packed night of fighting featuring a total of twelve professional bouts, a welterweight boxing tournament, and some of the most exciting names in German boxing. Interest is huge: According to promoter Ruben Lammersdorf, the event sold out in just 18 minutes.
The focus is primarily on Simon Zachenhuber. Germany’s former middleweight prospect is returning to the ring for the first time since his controversial loss to Pawel August. The April bout on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov took place under difficult circumstances and ended in the first loss of his professional career. Now, he’s looking to redeem himself against Armin Ajrulai.
“Another loss is not an option,” is the clear message for the 28-year-old from Bavaria. However, Ajrulai is a tough opponent. The Neuss native has fought his way back into boxing after suffering a severe brain hemorrhage and is heading to Cologne on the back of five straight wins.
Strong Undercard in Cologne
The co-main event also promises to be exciting. The undefeated Gregor Soenius from Cologne will face the experienced Alexander Lorch. For Soenius, this is the biggest challenge of his career so far. The GBS welterweight boxing tournament is once again drawing special attention. Defending champion Claudio Mirko Vizzini aims to repeat his surprise victory from March. He’ll face competition from Kemal Salih, Stjepan Biljan, and Mahsum Balaban.
Other exciting matchups include Steven Nduka vs. Navid Iran and Younes Zarraa vs. the tough Meriton Karaxha—a fight with the potential to be “Fight of the Night.” If you weren’t able to get a ticket, you can watch the entire event for free. The livestream on YouTube starts on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
