On June 13, things get serious again for three of AGON Sports‘ top talents. Lazaro Álvarez, Erislandy Álvarez and Hamsat Shadalov return to the ring! They will compete at the renowned Casino Buenos Aires in Argentina’s capital as part of a top-class event in South America. The event, which is being promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz (Sampson Boxing), Carlos Andres Tello (Tello Box) and Ingo Volckmann (AGON Sports), is part of the WBA’s “KO Drugs” event series. It aims to get young people away from drugs and into boxing.

Three-time Olympic medalist Lazaro Álvarez (Cuba) wants to continue his impressive run in the professional ranks. Since turning pro, the lightweight has regularly shown why he is considered one of the best technicians of his generation. On April 11, he was part of AGON Sports’ “Cuban Boxing Night“. Together with other top Cuban athletes who have joined AGON Sports, he was part of a historic night – as professional boxing had not been seen in the Caribbean country since the early 1960s.

His compatriot Erislandy Álvarez, also a gifted amateur star and 2024 Olympic gold medal winner, attracted attention with a strong performance in Varadero when he moved to AGON Sports. For him, too, the aim in Buenos Aires will be to make another statement and underpin his ambitions in the super lightweight division. Both Lazaro and Erislandy will be looking to defend their recently won intercontinental WBA titles with another exclamation mark.

Shadalov faces his next challenge

Berlin-based Hamsat Shadalov will also continue his development as a professional. With his spectacular style and enormous speed, he not only delights fans in Germany, but increasingly also the international audience. In Argentina’s capital, the “Chechen Borz” will fight for an international title for the first time.

For all three AGON boxers, it will be an important test on their way to bigger challenges. The fights at Casino Buenos Aires are part of AGON Sports’ consistent strategy to establish its athletes internationally and open up new opportunities for them on the big boxing stages. The event will be broadcast by TyC Sports. Further information on the schedule and opponents will be announced shortly.
