Oberhausen will be a touchstone: Granit Shala wants to show in the co-main event that he is ready for the next heavyweight level.

On January 10, there will be a heavyweight clash between AGON hopeful Granit Shala and Croatian top man Petar Milas in the Rudolf Weber Arena. The two will meet in the co-main event of Agit Kabayel’s big “Homecoming” event against Poland’s Damian Knyba in front of 13,000 fans.
Shala is currently in the final phase of competition preparation. Even over the Christmas holidays there will be no break for the man from Landshut, as the fight against Milas demands Shala’s full focus. The training is becoming more intensive, more specific and accompanied by sparring partners such as AGON heavyweight “Hulk” Carlos Castillo. The southpaw supports his stablemate and shares valuable rounds with him during the sparring phase. The Cuban-born fighter has a quality that few boxers have: He is a southpaw, making him the ideal partner in preparation for Petar Milas, who fights in both the normal and southpaw positions.
Coach Agron Kurtisi on his current form: “Granit is in very good shape. We have continuously optimized the training cycles. Agility, coordination, reaction, but also strength, endurance and the boxing-specific basics. A conceptual overall package that makes him better from fight to fight.” His conclusion: “Granit has a fire in him that everyone will see on January 10. The spectators can look forward to a spectacular co-main event.”
But this immediate form is just the tip of a path that began years earlier. A path that led Shala from a completely different reality to professional boxing. You can watch the story on his YouTube channel.
