Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez is facing an exciting turning point in his career. The dominant super flyweight champion is set to return to the ring in June – but without a direct run at the last missing title. The 23-year-old US-American currently holds the WBA, WBC and WBO belts. His major goal remains the complete unification of the weight class. However, as the IBF title is currently up for grabs elsewhere, an immediate undisputed fight is not an option.

Instead, the team is examining several scenarios. One possible option is a detour to bantamweight. There is a chance to be crowned world champion in a third weight class. Names such as Antonio Vargas or other title holders are being discussed internally, but a decision has not yet been made. At the same time, another title defense in the super flyweight division would also be conceivable. Rodriguez has worked his way to the top in recent years with strong performances and early victories and is now one of the best boxers in the world, regardless of weight class.

One thing is certain: standing still is not an option. Rodriguez wants to remain active – and launch an attack on the undisputed crown this year. The next fight will therefore set the tone for his future path.
