Olympic comeback for Team USA! Two-time Olympic champion Claressa Shields wants to make history at her home games in Los Angeles in 2028.

Claressa Shields has big plans – and they are golden! The two-time Olympic champion wants to make a spectacular comeback at the 2028 home games in Los Angeles. The 30-year-old explained at a media event in Brooklyn that she is ready to return to the USA amateur team for a third gold – if the federation lets her. “If America wants Olympic gold again, then you put Claressa Shields on the team – simple as that,” said “The GWOAT” combatively. However, USA Boxing currently prohibits professionals from competing. The 30-year-old takes it sportingly: “Three gold medals? I’ve got two tattooed on my arm now – I can fit another one on there!”
While many countries such as Brazil and France allow professionals to compete, the US federation continues to hold back. Shields, currently unbeaten world heavyweight champion (16-0), would even pause her professional career for this. She can also imagine a role as a mentor: “Being an Olympic champion is above all a matter of the mind. Many people lack this mentality. I can help to convey it.” After her stint in MMA, it is clear to Shields that her heart continues to beat for boxing – and perhaps soon for the Olympics again.
