The board of the German Boxing Association (DBV) has elected Paul Döring as the new sports director. The man from Schwerin succeeds Michael Müller.

The Executive Board of the German Boxing Association (DBV) has made two important decisions. Firstly, the board elected Paul Döring as the new sports director, the association announced on its website.
From base manager to DBV sports director
Born in Mecklenburg in 1992, he is a member of the association’s board of directors and has been sports director at BC Traktor Schwerin in an honorary capacity since 2022. “We are delighted to have found a suitable successor for this important role,” explained DBV President Prof. Dr. Jens Hadler. Döring succeeds Michael Müller, who has held this position since 2010.
Most recently, Döring was in charge of the national base in Schwerin. He will be trained in the new position by his predecessor Michael Müller, who will remain active at the DBV until the end of 2025, and will be solely responsible for it from the following year.
Heidelberg becomes an elite center
The committee also voted for Heidelberg as a future elite center. Here, the DBV ‘s best athletes will receive more centralized support than before with regard to international success, particularly at Olympic tournaments. At the same time, the high quality of the other national bases is to be maintained, as Hadler emphasizes: “Their power is essential if we want to achieve something.”
