Victor Faust dominated the experienced Mariusz Wach over ten rounds in Budapest and clearly defended his WBO European title on points.

The Ukrainian heavyweight Victor Faust from EC Boxpromotion impressively demonstrated his class at the “László Papp Centenary Event” in Budapest. After ten dominant rounds, the EC Boxing professional clearly won on points against the experienced Pole Mariusz Wach (2x 100-90, 1x 100-88) and successfully defended his WBO European title.
Faust dominated the fight from the start. He was already convincing in the first rounds with his greater speed and clear punches, especially with his right punching hand. Wach repeatedly tried to build up pressure, but remained largely ineffective offensively, while Faust controlled the action and repeatedly landed hard hands.
The Ukrainian’s superiority became increasingly clear as the match progressed: precise jabs, variable combinations and a high frequency of punches meant that Wach had to take more and more punishment. Although the Pole proved to have enormous taker qualities and held his own over the full distance, he was never able to seriously threaten Faust.
“Wanted an early victory”
After the fight, Faust was self-critical but satisfied: “I’m happy with the fight. Of course I would have liked an early victory, but great respect to Wach for his enormous taker quality. I will continue to work hard and develop further.”
Faust’s promoter Erol Ceylan praised his protégé’s performance: “Victor clearly dominated a very strong and excellently prepared guard over ten rounds. He landed a lot of hard shots, boxed very variably and also absorbed his own shots well. Of course he wanted to end the fight early, but you can’t force a knockout – that’s an important experience. Overall, he did an excellent job: top condition, high activity and a strong overall performance. We are very satisfied and the next fight is already being planned.”
“On the right track”
Faust’s discoverer Peter Hanraths, who once brought the Klitschkos to Germany, also drew a positive conclusion and rated the performance: “Victor did a very good job. He boxed thoughtfully, controlled his opponent and didn’t let himself get carried away too much by the pace. Being under pressure for ten rounds against such an experienced and physically strong opponent was extremely important for his development. Wach was well prepared and took a lot of punishment – that shows the quality of the victory. He can still improve in some areas, but overall he is absolutely on the right track.”
Special thanks also go to István Kovács, the initiator of the event in his position as President of the Hungarian Boxing Association. The former Universum boxer established himself excellently in boxing after his active career and organized a successful event in Budapest. “Istvan was a very ambitious boxer when it came to achieving the goals he set himself. That’s exactly how he is now in his position as association president and WBO official,” says Peter Hanraths, who once promoted the Hungarian-born fighter.
By successfully defending his title, Victor Faust consolidates his position in the heavyweight division and continues to recommend himself for bigger tasks on the international stage.
