Boxing legend Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin is running for President of World Boxing – election is on November 23 in Rome.

Former middleweight world champion and boxing superstar Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin wants to become the new president of the international boxing federation World Boxing. The 42-year-old Kazakh has already officially announced his candidacy – and announced that he wants to secure the Olympic future of boxing.
“I am honored to announce my candidacy for President of World Boxing,” Golovkin wrote on Instagram. “I will work to restore confidence in our sport and ensure that athletes, coaches and federations around the world are given a fair chance. Our goal is clear: full recognition by the IOC and the return of boxing to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and 2032 in Brisbane.”
The election will take place as part of the World Boxing Congress 2025 on November 23 in Rome. In addition to the President, a Vice President and two members of the Executive Board will also be elected.
