Next title in sight: AGON heavyweight Granit Shala wants to secure the WBA Continental belt against Alexandru Jur on June 28.

After his impressive title wins last year (IBF International and IBO Intercontinental) against Daniel Dietz, AGON heavyweight Granit Shala is now reaching for the next belt: On June 28, the 28-year-old will fight for the vacant WBA Continental title at “Ring of Fire 20” in Unterschleißheim near Munich.
The fight will take place at the Ballhausforum of the renowned Infinity Hotel and marks the next step in the career of the heavyweight from the AGON boxing stable. Shala’s opponent will be the experienced Romanian Alexandru Jur (21 wins, 6 defeats). Jur is stepping in for the originally scheduled Ukrainian Bohdan Myronets, who had to cancel due to contractual obligations.
Granit Shala has been preparing for the fight with great motivation for weeks under the guidance of his trainer Agron Kurtisi: “After winning two titles last year, I want to continue on my path consistently. The WBA Continental title would be another important step. Unfortunately, my opponent has changed, but I can deal with that. Alexandru Jur is not to be underestimated. I’m well prepared and will deliver a spectacular fight to the fans in Unterschleißheim and look for an early finish!”
AGON promoter Ingo Volckmann added: “Granit has developed well since his European Championship defeat last year and has proven that he is back. We are delighted that we can once again offer him a big stage with the WBA Continental title fight. With a win, he will climb into the world association’s top 15.”
The fight night at the Infinity Hotel promises to be a top-class boxing event with other exciting duels in the supporting program. Tickets for the event are available at http://www.ringoffire-tickets.com.
