After years of setbacks, time off and mental challenges, Jermall Charlo (34-0, 23 knockouts) is back in the starting blocks. The undefeated former world champion announced on his Instagram channel: “I’m ready to fight.” His message is clear – the 35-year-old wants to return to the limelight and to the top of the super middleweight world.

In May, Charlo celebrated his comeback and defeated Thomas LaManna in Las Vegas by T.K.O. in round six. It was his first fight in over a year and a half. But potential next opponents are few and far between. A planned mega-fight against Canelo Alvarez fell through, while Caleb Plant was the latest potential opponent to be discussed. The two have a heated history, including a slap in the face during a media-covered dispute in July 2023.

A fight with Plant would still be possible – even though he recently lost to Jose Armando Resendiz. Charlo nevertheless remains optimistic: “I’m waiting. But I’m ready.”
