Instead of taking place in September, the bout between Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli will now take place on Halloween. However, the venue has yet to be determined.
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has announced the new date for his fight against WBC super middleweight world champion Christian Mbilli. As the Mexican explained on the “Ariel Helwani Show,” the bout is now scheduled to take place on October 31.
The fight was originally scheduled for September 12 in Riyadh but was postponed to late October. According to Alvarez, a family matter was the main reason for the delay in the start of his training camp. It is currently unclear where the fight will ultimately take place. This is due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which are affecting the originally planned venue in Saudi Arabia.
For Canelo, this will be his first fight since his points loss to Terence Crawford in September 2025, in which he lost his super middleweight world titles. Mbilli, on the other hand, enters the fight as the reigning WBC world champion. The Cameroonian was elevated to the status of regular champion after Crawford retired and most recently faced Lester Martinez in a hard-fought draw.
