“Who does Marco want to box against? He doesn’t even see Usyk in the ring.”
Legendary trainer Ulli Wegner spoke to the “Bild” newspaper about the ambitions of his former protégé, Marco Huck. Wegner coached Huck from 2004 to 2014 and led him to the world title in 2009. In recent years, “Captain Huck” has returned to the ring time and again, though with limited success. Huck already fought the current heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in the cruiserweight division back in 2017, losing to the Ukrainian by technical knockout.
Title Match Planned
Now the 41-year-old is reportedly planning another title fight. So far, neither an opponent for Huck (44-5-1, 28 KOs) nor a venue has been announced. Wegner told “Bild”: “Marco has to be very well prepared; he can’t train on his own. As his former trainer, I wish him the best of luck with his plans. If he ever needs advice, I’d be more than happy to help. I’ve always been impressed by his strong will and his hard work.”
