Bad luck with Artur Reis due to injury: The WBO European champion has to miss the SES Gala on May 9 in Halle. Adam Deines will take over at short notice and will face Mateusz Tryc for the vacant title.
The SES Boxing Gala on May 9 at the Sparkassen-Eisdom in Halle will have a new title pairing. Artur Reis is unable to compete due to injury and has to cancel his planned title defense against Mateusz Tryc. The man from Wolfsburg suffered a nose injury in the final sparring phase. He will be replaced by Adam Deines, who will fight Tryc for the vacant WBO Europe light heavyweight title.
Deines has plenty of experience and was already in the middle of his preparations. He also knows the belt: he already won the WBO Europe title for SES in 2022. He now has the chance to get back into international contention at short notice against the strong Polish fighter Tryc.
The rematch between Julian Vogel and Sami Ahmeti for the WBO Youth World Championship in the middleweight division will be the main fight of the evening. The first duel ended in a draw in September, now a clear decision is to be made in Halle.
Also in action is heavyweight talent Michel Dobler, who is set to take his next step in his development against Karlsruhe southpaw Mike Lehnis. The event will be complemented by further professional fights and seven amateur fights with talents from Halle. MDR will be broadcasting from 10.30 p.m. with its program “SPORT im Osten – Boxen live”.
