Errol Spence is looking forward to his comeback fight against Tim Tszyu on July 26 in Australia with great confidence. After parting ways with his longtime trainer, Derrick James, the former world champion is working with Ronnie Shields for the first time—and says it feels completely different.

“I feel great, I’m training hard, and I’m listening to my coach, Ronnie Shields. It’s like night and day compared to my previous fights,” Spence explained. He was particularly impressed by the tactical work and the execution of game plans.

His first real test under the new coach will be his bout against Tim Tszyu at 158 pounds catchweight. Spence has closely analyzed the Australian’s recent performances and believes he has identified his weaknesses. Tszyu has suffered three losses in recent years, two of them by knockout.

Spence does expect that Tszyu might come out with a different strategy after switching to Jeff Fenech as his trainer. However, if the Australian stays true to his well-known offensive style, the American is convinced: “If they don’t change anything, it could end just like his other fights, in which he was stopped.”
