Three world championship titles, two champions, and a fascinating clash of styles: On Saturday, October 24, Emanuel Navarrete (40-2-1) and O’Shaquie Foster (25-3) will face off at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The WBO, IBF, and WBC super featherweight titles will be unified in this bout. DAZN will broadcast the fight live.

Navarrete enters the ring as the WBO and IBF champion. The Mexican has already become world champion in three weight classes and is best known for his unconventional boxing style. His punches often come from unexpected angles, and he puts pressure on his opponents with a fast pace and numerous combinations. Most recently, Navarrete stopped Eduardo Núñez in the eleventh round, thereby also winning the IBF belt. Now, all that’s missing is Foster’s WBC title for him to hold three of the four major world championship belts in the super featherweight division.

Foster aims to slow down Navarrete’s offense

Foster relies on other strengths. The American is technically skilled, moves with agility, and knows how to punish his opponents with precise counterpunches. He won his first world title in 2023 with a points victory over Rey Vargas. After a controversial loss to Robson Conceição, Foster regained his WBC title in a rematch. He subsequently scored additional victories over Stephen Fulton and Raymond Ford.

Against Navarrete, his defense will be put to the test above all else. The Mexican is hard to read and can land dangerous blows even from unusual positions. Foster must therefore control the distance and prevent his opponent from dictating the pace of the fight for extended periods. On Saturday, we’ll find out which of the two world champions will add to his title collection. The winner will then hold three of the four most important world championship belts in the super featherweight division.
