Undefeated super middleweight William Scull (23-0, 9 knockouts) of AGON Sports will take on the biggest challenge of his career on May 3: He takes on the biggest name in boxing and reigning WBA, WBC and WBO world champion and “Ring Magazine” champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 knockouts) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia!
For Scull, who hails from Cuba and fights for the boxing stable of Berlin promoter Ingo Volckmann, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. “It’s an honor for me to step into the ring against the best boxer in the world,” explains the 32-year-old. “I’ve been waiting all my life for an opportunity like this and I’ll be in absolute top form on May 3. Canelo is a legend, but I’m ready to fight for my place at the top.”

Canelo Alvarez, who was already the undisputed super middleweight champion, was already due to meet the official mandatory challenger William “El Indomable” Scull. In May 2024, Scull fought on the undercard of Canelo in Las Vegas. When the IBF then got serious and ordered the mandatory fight between Canelo and Scull, the Mexican refused and subsequently lost his IBF title without a fight. Mandatory challenger William Scull was given the chance to fight for the vacant world title belt and secured it on October 19, 2024 against Vladimir Shishkin. So now the mega-fight for all the major world titles is finally happening!
