Glory in Giza”, one of the most spectacular boxing events of the year, takes place on Saturday. Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will defend his WBC title against kickboxing superstar Rico Verhoeven against the historic backdrop of the pyramids of Giza. The event will be broadcast exclusively by streaming provider DAZN. The fight night is available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein as an additional booking (21.99 euros) to the existing membership. The broadcast begins at 16:30 German time. The event will be commentated by Uli Hebel, supported by experts Andreas Selak and Bernd Bönte.
In addition to the main bout, the undercard also features some big-name duels. In the co-main event, Alem Begic will fight Hamzah Sheeraz for the WBO super middleweight world title. Jack Catterall and Shakhram Giyasov will also fight for the vacant WBA welterweight title. The main fight in particular is already causing discussion in the run-up. While Usyk is regarded as the dominant heavyweight world champion, Verhoeven comes from a kickboxing background and is contesting only his second professional boxing match.
