Peter Kadiru will fight Murat Gassiev for the WBA world title on Saturday in Moscow. DAZN will broadcast the fight live and exclusively.
Peter Kadiru is facing the biggest opportunity of his career. The heavyweight from Hamburg will challenge WBA world champion Murat Gassiev in Moscow on Saturday, with a chance to make German boxing history. The title fight will be broadcast live and exclusively on DAZN. The broadcast begins on Saturday at 8:45 p.m. Uli Hebel and boxing expert Andreas Selak will provide commentary for the fight night.
Kadiru is stepping in at the last minute for the world championship bout after the originally scheduled challenger, Tony Yoka, had to withdraw due to injury. For the 29-year-old, this is his first chance at a major heavyweight world title. Most recently, Kadiru secured the WBA Continental title with a victory over Senad Gashi.
The German enters the ring as the underdog against Gassiev. The Russian is a former cruiserweight world champion and is known for his tremendous punching power. After Oleksandr Usyk relinquished his title, Gassiev was named the regular WBA heavyweight world champion.
If Kadiru pulls off this upset, Germany would have its second heavyweight world champion in a short period of time. Just a few days ago, Agit Kabayel became the WBC champion following Usyk’s withdrawal. Now Kadiru has the chance to deliver the next big moment for German boxing.
