Title fight at “A storm is brewing” on February 15! Vincenzo Gualtieri will face Alexander Pavlov for the WBO European middleweight championship in Neu-Ulm.

On February 15, the ratiopharm Arena in Neu-Ulm will become the center of German boxing at the “Ein Sturm zieht auf” event. AGON boxer Vincenzo Gualtieri will face Alexander Pavlow in an explosive rematch. At stake is the vacant WBO European middleweight championship. The title fight of the former IBF world champion accompanies the comeback of Felix Sturm. Sturm, who is one of the most successful German boxers, returns to the ring in the main fight against Benjamin Blindert.
Vincenzo Gualtieri wants to return to the big stage
Vincenzo Gualtieri, former IBF world champion, sees the fight against Pavlov as an important opportunity to get his career back on track. “I’ve become faster, harder and more explosive,” says Gualtieri, who trains with Franquis Aldama on Mallorca. After 23 wins, one defeat and one draw, he wants to re-establish himself on the international stage. “I’m highly motivated to give my fans a great fight,” he emphasizes.
Pavlov wants to take revenge for defeat
This will not be the first meeting between the two opponents. Back in June 2020, Gualtieri and Pavlov fought each other in Hamburg for the vacant BDB German championship title. Gualtieri won that duel with a narrow majority decision from the judges. Alexander Pavlov sees the return fight as a chance to make up for this defeat. “I’ve learned from the first fight,” he says confidently. After 22 wins and four defeats, Pavlov wants to show that he deserves the WBO European title. “I’m looking forward to the fight and will give it my all”.
Alexander Pavlov and AGON – there was something…
This is not the first clash between the 36-year-old Pavlov from Hamburg and a representative of the Berlin boxing team AGON Sports. On April 13, 2024, he already faced Thomas Piccirillo, whom he knocked out in the first round in a fight for the IBF Inter-Continental middleweight title. Piccirillo’s compatriot Etinosa Oliha returned the favor in September and defeated Pavlov by T.K.O. in round 3.
