Nina “The Brave” Meinke will finally get her world championship opportunity on September 21: the fight for the IBF featherweight crown against Daniela Bermudez promises pure excitement! In the BOXSPORT interview, the Berlin native gave us a little insight into what boxing fans can expect.

What do you expect from the atmosphere in the Alsterdorf sports hall?
Nina Meinke: “I’m expecting a really great atmosphere! The atmosphere will certainly be fantastic, especially because both the Berlin and Hamburg fans will be really into it. I’m sure that the crowd will really get the arena going. It will be an unforgettable experience!”
What do the last few weeks before the fight look like?
“The last few weeks before the fight are packed and very intense. At the moment we’re still in Zinnowitz, but from Monday (today; editor’s note) we’ll be heading to England for sparring. I’ll be working with some great boxers there, including possibly sparring with Terry Harper and another athlete from Liverpool. It will be a great preparation to fine tune for the fight. We’ll stay in England for about ten days, then the regeneration phase begins. Then I’ll have a few more days in Berlin before heading to Hamburg, where the final preparations will take place.”
A word about Dilar Kisikyol, what do you wish her for her last professional fight?
“I sincerely hope that Dilar wins her last professional fight and, above all, that she enjoys it to the full. It’s so important that she has fun in the ring again and savors this moment for herself. I hope it will be a nice end to her career and that she can look back on it with a smile. I know how hard it is to end a career like this – you always do it with a smile and a tear in your eye. Hopefully she will always be able to look back on this evening with a smile!”
