On September 21, Universum professional Florian Schulz will contest a six-rounder at the Fritz Sdunek Memorial.

Fritz Sdunek – trainer of world champions: Fritz Sdunek, who died in 2014, was head trainer at Universum Boxing for 14 years and led the brothers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, Dariusz Michalczewski, Ralf Rocchigiani and Zsolt Erdei to world championship titles. There were 13 in total.
Florian Schulz – Universum Boxing’s new hope: In future, Florian Schulz from Greifswald will be making the headlines of the sports news for the legendary Universum boxing stable. Sdunek and Schulz are the fruits of the Greifswald Boxing Club (BC).
Horst Femfert – mentor to both boxing greats: BC coach Horst Femfert is a key figure in their lives. Sdunek began his coaching career with him. He later coached Florian Schulz and turned the then 10-year-old slag into a six-time German champion, European runner-up and bronze medal winner at the World Championships.
A fight in honor of Sdunek
Florian Schulz wants to deliver a spectacular fight at this memorial tournament and thus commemorate his solidarity with Fritz Sdunek, BC Greifswald and Universum.
“Fritzer was one of us. That’s why it’s important to Universum to honor him,” says Universum manager Marlon Esteban. “And who better to do that than Florian Schulz?”
This is the seventh time the memorial has taken place. It was initiated by Berlin boxing promoter Winfried Spiering, a friend of Sdunek and organizer of the event. Spiering wants to preserve Sdunek’s legacy and commemorate his achievements for boxing. Like Sdunek, Femfert and Schulz, he is a member of BC Greifswald.
It will be exciting in the ring and emotional outside, as surprise guests are expected again this year. Venue: Fritz-Sdunek-Halle, Zinnowitz Sports School, Dr.-Wachsmann-Str. 30, 17454 Zinnowitz
