Artur Reis secures WBO European Championship after a tough fight at the SES Boxing Gala at Kraftverkehr Chemnitz.

Artur Reis has been crowned the new WBO European light heavyweight champion in Chemnitz. The 29-year-old defeated the robust Pole Mateusz Tryc by split decision – a decision that caused mixed reactions from the audience at the main event of the SES Boxing Gala at Kraftverkehr. The scorecards read 96:94 and 97:93 for the German, while one judge saw Tryc in front with 96:94.
Reis (16-1, 9 knockouts) and Tryc (16-3, 8 knockouts) delivered a thrilling and tactically demanding duel from the first bell. Reis, known for his clean technique and precise counter-boxing, tried to set the pace early on. He initially kept Tryc at a distance with a sharp jab and good footwork. But the Polish pressure boxer marched forward unimpressed, looking for the infight and putting the German under pressure with heavy body punches.
An intense exchange developed in the middle rounds, with both landing clear punches. Reis remained the more effective and cleaner puncher, but Tryc’s aggression and work rate made every round close. Reis showed his ring intelligence in the final rounds, controlling the distance and landing the more accurate shots.
The victory means that Reis will now climb into the top ten of the WBO world rankings – Tryc went into the duel as number six. The Russian Dmitry Bivol remains world light heavyweight champion.
