Austrian professional boxer Michaela Kotaskova is about to have the biggest fight of her career to date. The bounce boxer will face none other than Chantelle Cameron, former undisputed world champion (Undisputed) at light welterweight and one of the most consistent boxers in Europe, in London. The two will fight for the WBO world title in the half-middleweight division.

Boxing history written

Cameron, born in Northampton (England) in 1991 and known as “Il Capo”, has been one of the world’s top fighters for years. The technically strong and tactically extremely disciplined Brit was world champion of all four major federations (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) in the light welterweight division. In May 2023, Cameron made boxing history with her sensational victory over Katie Taylor. Although the subsequent rematch was lost, the rivalry is considered one of the most important in modern women’s boxing.

For Michaela Kotaskova, who is under contract with Bounce, this fight is the next logical step at international level. The reigning WBF world champion has earned the fight through years of discipline, consistency and uncompromising work in training. Now the WBO title fight is for a world championship of the so-called Big Four, one of the four major international boxing associations.

“Pure will and discipline”

Marcos Nader, Kotaskova’s manager, emphasizes: “I am incredibly happy for Michaela. Few people in boxing work as consistently and disciplined as she does. At Team Bounce, it’s a pleasure to work with people who give their all and trust you at the same time. Michaela has 100% earned this next big step. For ten years – without excuses, without compromise – she has given her all in our halls. That is pure will and discipline. She is a role model, not just for girls and women, but for everyone who works hard every day to achieve their goals. I am convinced that she will put in a great performance in London and surprise one or two people.”

Kotaskova herself is also confident about the challenge: “Chantelle Cameron is one of the best boxers of our time. I always wanted to have fights like this – against the best, on the biggest stage. I’ve been working towards this moment for years. I’m not coming to London to gain experience, but to show that I belong at this level.”

The fight will take place in the environment of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) – currently one of the most influential players in international women’s boxing. MVP, founded in 2021 by Jake Paul, consistently focuses on women’s fights in the main event, long-term career planning and international visibility via major streaming and TV platforms. With figureheads such as Amanda Serrano and top female athletes such as Chantelle Cameron and Savannah Marshall, MVP has had a lasting impact on the modern development of professional boxing.

For Bounce and Michaela Kotaskova, this fight is a clear statement: Austrian women’s boxing is ready for the international top.
