According to Devin Haney, a rematch against Ryan Garcia is possible if negotiations are fair. Otherwise he wants to box WBA champion Rolly Romero.

Devin Haney, the WBO welterweight champion, has two big options on his way to unifying the titles: WBA champion Rolly Romero or a rematch against the new WBC title holder Ryan Garcia. Both fights would be exciting, but Haney – and presumably the entire boxing world – want the rematch with ‘KingRy’ Garcia. The two fought a memorable duel in 2024, which was originally won by Garcia with a majority decision, but was declared invalid after Garcia tested positive for doping.
Despite the scandal surrounding the first fight, Haney has made it clear that he is only willing to take on Garcia again if the latter is realistic in negotiations. “The rematch against Ryan Garcia is the biggest in boxing, it would help my career and my resume tremendously. But he has to stick to the right terms,” explained Haney. “If he doesn’t want that, then we’ll fight the next guy who beat him – Rolly Romero.”
Haney explained that talks with Romero have been positive so far and that a potential fight with the WBA champion, who was given the full title after his win over Garcia, is also on the cards. Haney emphasized that he is currently the number one welterweight because he has beaten the best man in the division and is not prepared to be drawn into any A-side/B-side games.
