Although Freddy Kiwitt isn’t defending his WBO Global title, he still delivers a spectacular knockout victory in front of his home crowd

Freddy Kiwitt’s main bout in Flensburg was initially in jeopardy after his originally scheduled opponent, Henry Kikongo Kasujja, was denied entry due to visa issues.
This meant that the planned defense of the WBO Global title was called off at the last minute. Nevertheless, the event was able to go ahead because Jose Arcon stepped in at the last minute as a replacement opponent and saved Kiwitt’s fight.
For Arcon (15-2, 13 KOs), however, the fight was over by the second round. Kiwitt (30-3, 19 KOs) landed his first hard right hand in the second round and sent the Venezuelan to the canvas with a thunderous blow. Arcon was unable to get back to his feet, so the referee stopped the fight at 2:12 of the second round.
“In the first round, I tried to read him and figure out what he was doing,” Kiwitt told DAZN immediately after his victory. “In the second round, I got into my rhythm, saw an opening, and just went for it.”
When asked about his next goals, Kiwitt said:
“I’m going to take a break for now, sit down with my team, and plan the next steps. But my next fight will definitely be another title bout. Hopefully on a big stage, and maybe even at a different venue.”
“I want to make boxing great again in Flensburg! Flensburg used to be a real boxing town. Today, a lot of the focus here is on soccer and handball. I want to help reconnect the city more closely with boxing.”
